MY MAKEUP ROUTINE
As you guys, all saw from one of my earlier posts I really don't wear that much makeup. I kinda hate makeup. It's a hassle BUT I have to admit I do wear my fair share. I've been asked by a few people to do a makeup routine post so here it is!
So for my moisturizers, I use Burt's Bees every. single. day. NO EXCEPTIONS. I use their regular body moisturizer and then I use their facial oil. I lived out West for a little bit and it's super dry so I needed the extra moisturizer. The facial oil was on the more expensive side but it's totally worth it.
After moisturizer, I use Revlon's Colorstay Foundation. I put a tiny bit on my cheeks, nose, eyelids, under eyes, forehead, and chin. For a while, I was really into the beauty blenders but then I realized how gross they got FAST so I threw mine away and I just use my fingers. After I spread my foundation around my face (and DOWN MY NECK) I use a flat top brush to go over my foundation to make sure everything looks really smooth.
As you can tell, I'm not into high-end makeup. It's a waste of money. For my eye shadow, I use Covergirl's eye shadow palettes. I LOVE these palettes. They're super cheap and the quality is awesome. I have the Nude, Rose and Golden Palette and I'm never disappointed. I usually use the 4th color (from the left) on the nude palette or the 3rd color (from the left) of the golden palette for my eyelid and under my eye. When I apply any kind of eye shadow I always put a small amount on the brush and then spray the brush with setting spray. It helps the shadow stay on longer.
Next is my favorite thing ever... HIGHLIGHT. I love love love highlight. I used to do the whole contour thing that took an hour but now I just do a little bit of highlight and I'm good to go. Okay, so this is my biggest secret ever... I get asked all the time what highlight I use and I actually use my eye shadow from the Covergirl palette. I use the 3rd color from the left from the Nude Palette and the 2nd color from the left from the Roses Palette. I apply the highlight with a blush brush to my cheekbones and the space above my eyebrows. Then I switch brushes. I use a concealer brush to apply the highlight to my nose, cupids bow, corner of my eyes and the arch of my eyebrow. Even though it's an eyeshadow it goes on so well. It looks really good every time and it always stays in place.
My eyebrows are my pride and joy. I adore my eyebrows. I use Nyx's Eyebrow Pencil. Its great because it has the pencil on one end and the brush on the other end. What I do is spray the brush with hairspray and the brush my eyebrows up, that shapes them and helps them stay in place all day. Then, I take the brow pencil, draw a line at the base of my eyebrows and the draw a few lines going upward. That's all I do for my eyebrow makeup. I'm extremely lucky my eyebrows are super thick and already have their own shape so I really don't have to do much to them.
I used to be really big into doing the cat eyeliner... NEVER AGAIN. My eyeliner could take anywhere from 5-15 minutes contingent upon if they were even the first time. Now I use Revlon's Eyeliner Pencil and sometimes I'll do some on my lower lashes if I even put any eyeliner on at all.
I got really blessed with perfect eyelashes so I really never wear mascara but if I do I use Covergirl's Super Sized Mascara. It's perfect for my lashes because it fans them out instead of making them clumpy. (That is one of my biggest pet peeves EVER. Your eyes should not look like spiders, but that is a rant for a different time.) But yes, definitely would recommend this mascara. It's cheap and effective. Covergirl is killing it.
Recently I've fallen in love with the show "Secret Life Of The American Teenager." This show was filmed in 2008 so obviously, there were a lot of layered clothing, gross peace signs, and vests... VESTS... VESTS. Aside from the horrible outfit choices, there was one trend that I picked up on and actually started to dig. One of the characters, Adrian, wears lip gloss in every episode and I actually started to fall for it. I had sat on the thought of lip gloss for a few days until I went on Instagram and was looking at the Trending page... There was a post about bringing back lip gloss. I read the comments of the post and it was split down the middle. A lot of people were ecstatic about bringing it back while others were really against it, so I went out and got some. It took a little bit of looking to find some but I FOUND SOME. Now I can't put on makeup without my lip gloss... I think I'm addicted. (I use Nyx's lip gloss in Ballerina Pink.)
Lastly, I always set my makeup. You have to or it'll slide all over the place. I use Nyx's Matte setting spray and it's great. Nyx is also killing it. Nyx is so underrated. Can't talk about Nyx enough.
My entire look costs about $95 which is actually crazy cheap! I don't buy high-end and my makeup comes out looking just as good. ;)
